Overheating issues after idling all day?

When I came home from class today and turned on my PC, it immediately gave me an error which told me it had overheated. I though that was a bit weird, since it had been off all day, but I gave the fans a clean and tried it again. Same deal. Okay.. So I'll swap out the CPU fan for my spare, then give it a try. No dice, still apparently running at 70 degrees Celsius.

At this point I figure maybe my bios is being an idiot, so I turn off the auto shutdown on overheat to run CPUIZ on the desktop.. Apparently I am now running at 95 Celsius.

I even tried removing the battery from the mobo to reset the bios. Same results. Is something fried? Is there anything I can do?

Intel i7 2600k w/stock cooler
16 GB 1600mhz RAM
AMD 2GB 6970 card
ASUS Maximus IV (or maybe rampage IV? I can't even remember the name)

The fans run fine and my CPU has never been over locked. It runs at 3.4ghz. The thermal computer hasn't been changed since I built the PC in early 2012
