Hello,

I have an old Area 51 7500 which needs upgrading from a 8600 GTS to AMD 6670. I have encountered many problems so I would really like to know how I should go about it in the best way. How would I install the new GPU properly? Do I remove all traces of the current Nvidia drivers, software etc then swap in the AMD 6670? Is it compatible with the motherboard? So I need to change settings in the BIOS?

The system:
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz 8MB Cache 1066MHz FSB
Windows 7 Ultimate
NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI Motherboard
Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00 7500PG
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600 GTS
750 Watt Alienware® Approved Multi-GPU Power Supply

Dear, it is not that hard.
Download the latest drivers of AMD 6670 from the manufacturer's website for Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit whichever you are using).
Update the BIOS [optional step]
Unplug the old GPU.
Plug in the new GPU.
Boot the PC login to the windows.
Uninstall the driver of old GPU
Install the driver of new GPU

That's it.

Happy Hunting!
