Hi and thanks for reading my post. This is the build I am planning to make:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 Haswell
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 Socket 1150
Memory: G.skill RipjawsX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 or G.skill RipjawsX 1x8GB DDR3 1866
PSU: SeaSonic S12II Bronze 520W 80 PLUS
Case: Cooler Master CM Storm Scout 2
Screen: Samsung SyncMaster S22B300B or T23A350 (If budget allows it)
GPU: SAPPHIRE Sapphire Dual-X 280X or Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X

1. Are the parts compatible with one another?
2. Should I get 2x4GB modules for dual channel support or get 1x8GB for future upgrades? Is dual channel really worth it?
3. Will the PSU support this build without any problems?
4. Is there a difference between Sapphire Dual-X R9 280X and Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X?
5. Is there a difference between Samsung SyncMaster S22A300B and S22B300B?
6. Can I use the PC without the GPU card for programming and watching HD videos?

Thanks a lot for your time. I appreciate it.

Solution
1. You should get 1600 Mhz ram instead, that motherboard only supports 1600 or 1333 Mhz ram, I recommend these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231445. Also 2x4GB Ram is better than 1x8GB to enable dual channel configuration (double the bandwidth).
2. The R9-280x has recommended requirements of 550w but I think your PSU will be fine, although if you can upgrade it to a 550w or 600w psu it would be better and give you more room for upgrades in the future.
3. The Vapor-X edition is an overclocked edition of the other card with a different cooling solution. Also if you live in the US you should check the price of the GTX 770, could be a better deal.
4. You can use the the PC without the GPU for these purposes just...

5. I think the S22A300B is better than the S22B300B but not sure. Also if you decided to go with the GTX 770 try getting a monitor with G-sync support.

Edit: The R9-280x is a rip off, it is 50$ more than the superior GTX 770: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280X-vs-GeForce-GTX-770
The GTX 770 will need a 600w psu with 42A @ +12V rail this one should do:

1. I have only the option of 1x8GB 1866 and 2x4GB 1600. I have read that the advantage of dual channel is 10-15%. Is it worth me buying two sticks? In the future I am planning on getting another 1x8GB. I do not like having to waste money on the 2x4GB. I am thinking future proofing in here.
2. Where I am from the card costs 370$. I have actually checked the comparisons between the 770 and R9 280x. I found that the latter has near the performance of the former. Also with Mantle it looks promising.

Thanks for the information.

That is not a waste of money, getting a 2x4 kit is safer, to make sure that the two sticks are identical and they well perfectly operate in dual channel without problems or without you having to adjust one of them to match the other if you can't find another stick identical to the one you have bought. Also you will really be wasting your money getting a single 1866MHz stick since it will run at 1600 MHz anyway on that motherboard so you are better off with the 2x4 GB @ 1600 MHz.

The cheapest R9 280x is 530$, AMD cards prices skyrocketed since last month. The GTX 770 which is faster than it is much cheaper, you can get the Gigabyte 3x windforce edition from here for 346$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125463

And while Mantle is only integrated in BF4, Physx is integrated in much more titles and you can only have Physx with a GTX card. You don't need more than 8 GB of ram by the way. 8 GB are more than enough.
