firstly why would you do a downgrade trade and both ram needs a different slot, they won't fit. DDR3 has a different slot to DDR2.

well, Do what is best for you. I would personally keep the DDR3 as it is better off, but if you don't need your laptop then it is a way to get rid of them. Are you trading DDR3 laptop ram with DDR2 Laptop ram? If the DDR2 Ram is for the desktop you will need the DDR2 to be a desktop ram module, just if you didn't know.
