in need of help repairing a laptop i have.
OS: Windows 7
problem is when i power up the laptop it says there is no bootable device. simply saying it cannot detect the hard drive, so i go into bios and checked and yes... says there is no hard drive plugged in.
but when i reset the bios(load setup defaults) and then restart the laptop the bios detects it now a Toshiba hdd.
HDD detected:
- Normal boot, takes forever black screen
things i did:
tried to open insert windows 7 cd to repair the boot sector. been searching the web for a solution and the common demonitor it gives me is that i use the windows 7 disc to repair.
another problem is.. sometimes i reach the windows 7 startup screen where it says install and repair at the bottom. sometimes just a black screen after saying loading windows files.
if get lucky i click the repair button and brings me to the window where it should be detecting which OS is installed and an option to load drivers at the bottom. but it takes forever! my cursor is just the busy cursor of windows 7 the round thing going in circles.
i also read that with the repair option i can get to a cmd terminal and type in commands to repair the boot area of the hdd. i also searched the bios where theres supposed to be an option to change the sata thingy.. well its not available in the bios!
just wanna see the files again in the hdd and transfer them to my new laptop. any help would be appreciated thanks!
oh and btw.. even if i try to reformat the disk, it also takes forever. like when you try to do something with it it slows down or hangs i dunno whats causing it if its a bad sector or bad hardware already.
