Sound card/ HD audio connector issue

Specs: Windows 7 - ASRock Fatal1ty z87 Motherboard and GTX 770 GPU are the relevant pieces of hardware.

I finished my PC build yesterday and had some small issues with the HD audio connector going into my motherboard, it was slightly loose and lead to my rear audio jack not picking anything up - I fixed this quickly and then my headphones were picked up and everything was fine for the rest of the night. I should also note that I have tried multiple headsets and headphones always with the same result.

I turned my PC on today and the rear jack now recognises everything put into the audio output as 'Speakers' and outputs no audio. When I open the playback manager it says headphones are not connected and speakers are: when I disable speakers, disconnect and reconnect the headphones nothing is picked up. The microphone jack still works well however.

I have updated my sound card, video card and motherboard drivers - I assume it is a hardware issue. I have checked on google and found nothing relating to this problem.

Any help is much appreciated.

Fractal Design Define R4 so it's a bit of the stretch for the HD Audio connector.

It seems to be working now but I'm still not sure why... I reconnected my hd audio then rebooted and my headphones are acting as speakers instead of 'headphones' as the were yesterday... As long as I can hear things I'm happy I guess, thanks guys.
