Hey everyone, so I recently upgraded from an i3 to an i5 3570k. Installed it and now when I turn my pc on the monitor will not switch on, I have checked and all cables are fine and the CPU fan is spinning. The pc powers on and you can hear the fans spinning but I cannot hear the bot up stage when all the fans run at max speed for a second. Anyone got any ideas?

is your monitor powered by the PC psu or by its own power cable?

If it's through the PSU, then you may not have enough power to run everything since the upgrade.

This happened to me a few years back, and things like the keybaord, mouse or HDD would randomly drop out

Do you get any POST beeps? Does the PC beep at all?
If not, It sounds like a faulty CPU or your Motherboard does not support your new one.

Check on your Motherboard manufacturers website see if it is supported, if so try updating your BIOS.
If not sorry, it sounds like your CPU is bust try returning it.

UPDATE

I found out why it won't work, my Gpu is a Asus 7850, when I installed the i5 I connected my monitor to gpu and the screen wouldn't turn on. I then connected my monitor directly to my mobo and it works. If problem now is by. Gpu doesn't work with. My. I5 but it worked with my old i3.
Any suggestions?
