Hello all,

I just built my pc with the ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO DDR3 2800 LGA 1150 and when it first attempts to boot up it flashes q code 18 and then powers off and will automatically try to boot again.. and again..etc.

I've scoured the web and can't find any reference to q code 18 other than in the manual. Not sure where to start but I've moved the ram in various slots, disconnected the GPU, checked the processor and the cooling attachment. I'm just needing some help!

Solution
If the board is in a PC case, take it out. Set it up on a non conductive surface with a bare minimum of componets (1 DRAM module only, keyboard, use onboard display out so no GPU plugged in). See if the board will POST. If not, remove the CPU and check the socket for any bent pins. Re-seat the CPU and re-mount the cooler and try again.
