So hey again people.

This time i have something that has been bugging me big time. The spec of my machine is shown below.

Computer setup AMD phenom2 x6 1090T, Asrock 890GX Extreme 4, Kingston HyperX 12GB Antec
Earthwatts 650W, Sapphire HD6790, Zalman CNPS7500-AlCu, WD Caviar Green 500 +
2TB, Thermaltake V3 Black.

Now my issue is after some intensive use, like gaming or streaming on my 32" HD screen at 720p. When my GPU is reaching 60C and my CPU 50-60C depending on how hard the drain is. My psu fan starts riling up and the noise totally goes way above anything else in my room. It not an irritating sound, more like the PSU is hyperventilating.

I would like to identify the cause and eliminate it asap.

Thanks for your help.

Solution
*sigh* you are using enough power to make your psu actually need to increase the fan speed, so it doesnt matter how you change your system, as long a you
1 get a better power supply
OR
2. change out parts to use less power consumption. the 6790 is an extremely power hungry card for a 650 watt psu's 12v rail

I guess you didn't quite understand my concern. The cause of the fan going up in speed is that somewhere something is chugging power under use and making the fan ramp up causing the high ventilation noise. It stops after cooling down and idle. And as i specifically pointed out it is my PSU fan, and no the fan is perfectly fine.

My problem is identifying the different power consumption rates in real time or close approximates, to be able to determine the guilty hardware. So that i can swap to a less power greedy hardware to eliminate the noise and power consumption issue altogether.

Its definitely not entirely safe ......but most PSU's have a commercial fan in them

After you have taken the psu from the case you can open it and replace the fan .
BUT even disconnected the psu can give you a severe electric shock

Dont do this unless you have a good idea what a capacitor is , and know not to lick them

the cause of a psu fan speed increasing is due to the psu itself heating up..why did you think there might be a fan in a psu? the best way to fix this, and the cheapest in your case, is to indeed just buy a more powerful powersupply, or one with a quieter fan.

you can get software to monitor power consumptions, but your 6790 is the most power hungry thing in your system by far

Just telling someone to change this change that does not help. I have my suspicions too about the 6790. But well after looking around a lot, i'll grab a watt meter to know for sure. And i will be of use further on too.

THanks for all your inputs so far.

Like i said, i had suspicions about the grafix too. And don't take it the wrong the way when i said saying changing random things will not help. My system is a healthy one, just a bit of a power muncher. Anyways thanks again for the input. Good day.
