When sales are strong and supplies are low prices go up to try to balance things out. You will notice that if something sells out on newegg it comes back notably higher priced. A couple years ago the Hyper 212+ sold out because at $25 it was a good deal, 3 days later when it came back it was priced at $50 because it could be. Welcome to economics 101.
If you look at the R9, R7, and 7000 series on newegg, 46 out of 161 are presently out of stock, that is a great sign for AMD but bad for you if you are really set on an AMD card.
