I have a 780 ti. Can you please explain what the amps needed is and how it'll work on the PSU. Let's say the 780 to needs 42A, and it uses 2 PCI-E, is it using 42A on both wires? Or half half?

Also, how much amps does it actually draw?

Can you please suggest me a $200 PSU with tax included? In Canadian currency.

Thanks

The GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card itself can draw up to 27 Amps from the +12V rail(s) for a couple of cards that I've seen power measurements on.

The 42 Amps that the graphics card manufacturer and NVIDIA recommends is for the system (i.e. CPU, motherboard, hard disk drives, optical drives, SSDs, cooling fans, etc.) including the graphics card.

Can someone also help me with a question? How would you connect the GPU to the PSU if it was something like this?

The 780 ti requires a 6 pin and a 8 pin. Which wire should I use and where do I plug it in the PSU?

It's cheaper at NCIX.

That PSU comes with four 8/6-pin PCI-E modular power cables. Use two of these modular cables from the PSU to the graphics card.

Plug the two modular cables into any two of the six CPU / PCI-E connectors on the PSU:

How about the wire with 6 pins to the 780 ti? Do I connect it to the peripherals- ide/sata? Since its the only one with 6 pins

Edit::: is there an 8 pin and a 6+2?
So I plug 2 8 pin wires to CPU/pci-e but for one of the 2 wires connecting to the 780 ti, do I only use the 6 and leave the 2?

The cables for PCI/E have 8 pins on one end, and 6 pin + 2 pin on the other end, use them on the CPU/PCI-E slots only, plug in the 6pin and tie back the 2pin

Yes, just leave the +2-pin portion dangling (i.e. unconnected).
