I am almost classed as a newbie for all the PC knowledge I have. I do not know what over clock means. I was just using asudual and did the update, shutdown to complete installations and it never came back own. I am using a tablet now. I will have to call the repair person or let it set there.

Given that it does not read the hdd to read the corrupt data and display a message, it's likely not an everyday virus and will probably be a hardware issue. If you are under warranty, you could RMA the pc. Even if it were a virus that affected the bios, it's in need of repair.

Thanks this PC is about 6 years old I am considering getting a laptop. By the time I pay service charge and labor I could have paid half what repair will cost me. It has been in the shop once with similar problem, that is why I asked could it be a virus. The service person said virus but then they were someone I had never used before so I took them at their word unfriendly person and unappreciative of my business. Expensive lesson learned.

Keep in mind that "Virus" is sometimes something they say to keep from taking too much of your time with explanations. It's about time for a new PC anyways, and your mobo may be fried from an electrical issue that progressed.

Thanks again. I will post again when I have this checked out or buy another one. I am eighty one years old and the computer keeps my mind active. Hopefully staving off Alzheimer's. nancy
