Is it the Phenom II x4 perhaps? or something along those lines? Cause thats pretty weak CPU and arma 3 and total war are all pretty CPU intensive games.

mmmm the thing is the cpu should be good enough to run these games going on recommended specs would it be worth a system wipe? since iv never done it due too it not being so simple because of raid settup i seem to have trouble finding the drives to wipe on the windows disc

It might help, I usually reformat my system ssd every 6 months or so, just to start fresh. But I do believe that you should look to upgrade, even an average fx6300 build will work much better than what you currently have.

Well the 8150 is a decent CPU but it wont compare to the newer i7s. If you're not looking at budget you can buy an x79 platform and pay close to a 1000$ for just the CPU. What I'd recommend though is if you want a lasting build to grab the i5 4670k and go from there. You can really just grab CPU+Mobo+Ram combo and be quite alright, also what PSU are you using? If its something non quality you could upgrade as well. Just look at a budget and see how much you'd like to spend and go from there.
