Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 Won't Install/Boot

(I just tried to make this thread and it made me register. I don't know if this already posted during that process, but I can't find it. I apologize of this results in a double post.)

I wanted a new video card to game with on my HP Pavilion H8-1214 and went to Best Buy and bought a new power supply for it and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 760 graphics card. I installed both, and the following happened:

The blue HP startup screen came up. It lasted a few seconds.

Then, it went to an all black screen except for several lines of text basically just outlining some specs. That's it. It doesn't boot the drivers from the disk, or otherwise start the computer. It appears to just end there. Just in case it was the power supply, I removed the 760 and put it in my old card. It works fine, so I do not think it is the power supply. But when I try to go back to the new card, I get the same screen. I also tried to use the disk to install the drivers first, and it won't do so because it says it doesn't detect compatible video cards (understandable, but not helpful.)

Why is it making this black screen, and how do I finish installing this new video card?

So, I did that. Still nothing. Blue screen, asking for ESC for startup menu. Spits some specs at me. I tried holding F8 and all it did was go to that screen again. Is it my motherboard?

I am having the exact same problem with the GPU and have the exact same Hp and GPU. I tried everything you tried and am getting the same error. I have no solution in sight, let me know if you figure something out!
