Asus Maximus Hero , USB 3.0 connector, Portable Harddisk problem?

I connected the Corsait 600T front panel usb 3.0 to the motherboards usb port using a USB 3.0 20 pin header .

If i insert a usb flash drive , it seems to work fine. But if i connect WD Elements USB harddisk, it keeps, connecting and disconnecting the drive.

Anyone has any idea what the problem is?

Probably insufficient power through USB to drive the portable hard drive and keep it running, hence the constant "connected" and "disconnected" sounds. Plugging the drive in to an external mains powered USB hub should fix that problem.
