I am planning on building a gaming PC. I already have the case, hard drive, mobo, and PSU. So I was wondering if the AMD Athlon X4 AD750KWOHJBOX 100W 3.4Ghz Processor can work with this setup:

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Core i3, i5, i7 and Platforms SDRAM CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

GPU: EVGA GTX 650 Ti

MoBo: MSI B75MA-P45

And if this CPU isn't compatible, is there one that's about as powerful as this?

Solution
No, that's an intel board, you need an amd board.

What is your budget, the athlon chip is a bit old, the FX sereies is the better sereis of chips.

Well, I can't really spend any more than about $130. I was gonna get an Intel i3, but I heard that the AMD Athlon X4 was better for less. Would the i3 be good for gaming, with a EVGA GTX 650 Ti?

Yes an i3 is great for gaming! it will be roughly on par with an FX-4300/Athlon x4 in multi-threaded games, but will knock their socks off when it comes to single threaded games like skrim for example. An i3/650 Ti would be good for most new games eg Tomb raider/BF4 on medium 1080p around 30-40 frames per second. When it ocmes to anything under a 7870/R270x or 670/760 gtx, the GPU is the bottleneck for newer games. Some of the newer i3 haswell's are getting some incredible results for a dual core cpu!

Yea its a fair bit better than a 650 ti, but what is the price difference where you are? Here some comparisons

http://www.hwcompare.com/13789/geforce-gtx-650-ti-2gb-vs-geforce-gtx-660/

The difference would be akin to high/ultra at 1080p and medium settings for the 650ti. The 660 has nearly double the memory bandwidth and 25% more pixel and texel fill rates. I have a hd 7850 2gb and i can run BF4 at average 40-50fps on ultra and a solid 80fps on ultra with msaa off! and the 660 probably has a little bit better performance than my 7850! I payed $210 Australian for my 7850 and im pretty happy with that. I also have an FX-6300 6 core though, the i3 will have slighlty less maybe 5 frames on some ultra threaded games, but my i3 3240 can keep up if not beat my fx playing starcraft/skyrim/f1 2013.
