modular cables used inbetween psus?

I have no idea how stupid this question may be, but if I am changing out a PSU is it required that I change the modular cables to the new brand? Or are they somewhat/sometimes interchangeable?

Yes, use the cables provided for each PSU. They are most likely not interchangeable between brands. Sometimes the cables aren't interchangeable among different models from the same brand.
