DVI-D to VGA adaptor with DVI-I Output

Hi,

I have an old dell monitor that only has a VGA input. I want to connect it to my graphics card that has a dual link DVI-I output. Will a DVI-D to VGA adapter work?

You'll probably need a DVI-I to VGA adapter. DVI-D is a digital signal only, and VGA is an analog signal only; DVI-I carries both, but a DVI-D adapter doesn't actually change the signal from digital to analog. With a DVI-I adapter, your monitor can just read the analog signal.
