Install Windows 8.1 Pro Error

I put together a new computer recently - all new parts. No operating system has been installed on this system before. I was able to boot the computer initially and with the Windows 8.1 Pro CD in my Blu-Ray player and begin the install process. Around 73%, I heard the Blu-Ray player start to have trouble reading (that repetitive spinning sound). The install failed and when I tried to have it read the Windows 8.1 CD, it couldn't. When I reboot my computer, it won't recognize the Windows 8.1 CD as a boot disk and just gives me the error "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system."

The only thing I have hooked up right now as far as drives go is my SSD (SATA1) and Blu-Ray (SATA2). I moved them from SATA 2 and SATA 4 respectively, but this did not fix anything. The Windows 8.1 CD reads just fine in my other computers, so I know the media isn't bad.

What do I do? It seems like Windows started to install drivers for my Blu-Ray (LG) and it stopped working. Should I create a boot/install USB that I've been reading about?

Solution
Avoiding the disc media would be best, yes. You may have a faulty blu-ray drive, or it is loading the wrong driver, or a bad disc.
Hi

Is this a genuine windows DVD. Or one you burnt your self from a downloaded ISO

If you can read this DVD in another PC you maybe able to make a copy using a branded good quality DVD-R disk, and burning at a low speed
Imgburn can make a ISO from the DVD then burn the ISO to another DVD

Do not use imgburn 2.5.8 self installing software as it installs adware which is difficult to remove
You can extract files from exe using 7Zip or get previous version 2.5.7 which does not have this problem

Or get a spare DVD reader to use while installing windows

The win 7 software from Microsoft to put a win 7 ISO onto a USB also works if ISO is win 8

Yes - it is a genuine windows DVD, not a burnt iso.

I ended up using PowerISO to burn an image of the Windows 8 DVD onto a USB stick and installing it from that. Success!

I RMA'd the Blu-Ray burner and am hoping to have better luck with the next.
