New build, black screen no beeps.

So I bought a bunch of new parts and hooked up all the components last night. Turned it on expecting to hear the usual bios beep and post screen, but nothing happened.

I've checked all cables and such, but have found nothing. One thing I found unusual was that there was no speak cable for my motherboard coming from my case, but after reading up on my case (corsair 650d) I saw that I was not the only one with the problem and that it was not a big deal.

Here are my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO DDR3 2800 LGA 1150
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.5 GHZ 8 MB Cache BX80646I74770K
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ACX Cooler 3GB GDDR5 384bit Dual-Link DVI-I DVI-D HDMI DP SLI Graphics Cards 03G-P4-2884-KR
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBXL
PSU: Antec HCG-750

Any idea why this is not posting at all? I made sure to check everything against the motherboard ot ensure that it was all compatible. Not sure why its not posting at all.

EDIT: After looking through the manual and the motherboard one more time, I noticed that there was a Q-Code on the motherboard of #55. So I referenced the manual and it said 55 indicated "Memory not installed." but I definitely had the memory installed and it was the supported memory for the board. So I tried installing my old ram into the new board, but same error #55 came up on the Q-Code. Does this indicate a dead mobo or bad ram slots on the mobo? I've never experienced this before so I have no idea.

check the cpu chip too. the memory controller not built into the mb now but into the cpu. unless there a bent pin under the cpu if two of the ram slots are not working I would change the cpu to be safe.

take the gpu out and three sticks of ram. see if the onboard video is working. if the onboard video and one stick of ram works check the bios rev of the mb see that it has the newest bios. if there no post with onboard video and one ram stick check that the eight pin power plug on the edge of the mb is plugged in and the mb is sitting on top of the stand offs. if your using an after market heat sink check that the back plate if it metal not shorting the mb out. also check that the metal io shield not shorting your mb out. if there no post unplug the case fans and usb port see if one of them is shorting out the mb. if there still no post bread board the mb outside the case. if there no led (power good or any fault led showing on bread bording try another power supply.

Took out the GPU and three sticks of ram, still got Q-Code 55. Also there are no vga/dvi slots on the motherboard to plug my monitor into anyways so I was just going off the Q-Code number but still got no beeps or change in Q-Code number.

Checked the eight pin power plug on the edge of the mobo several times, ensured that was not the problem.

As for aftermarket heatsink, I'm using a Corsair H80i with the correct backplate installed and the proper pieces pushing the backplate off the motherboard to not short it out.

Removed metal io shield entirely. Still no better.

Unplugged case fans and usb por, still no boot.

Not sure how to breadboard even after googling around for a bit about it.

I don't think its the PSU considering it was working just fine yesterday with my old parts.

q code 55 can be from missing bios code for the newer ram. use the usb flashback rog port put the newest bios file on the mb. the last 4 number of the mb ser# lable is the bios rev the mb was shipped with. take one dimm..put it in each slot see if the q code changes or your system posts. if there no post or change of q codes. check under the cpu for bents pins. if there no pins it could be a bad mb or cpu as the newer intel cpu have the memory controller built in. if you have any other ddr-3 ram try the mb with one stick.

I had another set of older ram I was using before and tried it one stick at a time, but still got error 55 no beep or post.

Not sure I understand the process of putting the bios on the flash drive. If I can't get to the bios in the first place right now at all how do I get the mobo to read the flash drive? Also which port is the rog port?

The i7 I got doesn't have pins on the bottom.

Would I be best taking this somewhere like Fry's Electronics and having them test it all?

Forgot to comment here when I figured it out.

The problem was two of the ram slots were entirely dead. 01 and 03 were not reading any ram at all, but 02 and 04 were reading just fine and would boot with sticks in them. Going to return the motherboard to Amazon, already picked up a new board from Frys.
