Hello;

My 1100t default cpu voltage is 1.4v when running full load @3.3Ghz. I underclock it to do some benchs @ 1.7Ghz, but i noticed that it is using same voltage 1.4v. Would that hurt the cpu since it is running half of it's speed but being fed with full voltage?, or should I undervolt it too?

Regards.

Have you set the voltage manually through BIOS after downclocking the cpu? If you want the voltage to scale down with load too, you cant disable power saving states or set voltage manually in BIOS. I noticed that setting Voltage manually will override voltage scaling with load regardless of power saving states.

If C6/C1E is on and voltage is set to Auto, it should scale under load. What and how is your BIOS configuration?

i also noticed that my voltage won't scale if i set my multiplier manually regardless of power or voltage settings! It might be a bios limitation.

Best bet is always manually setting voltages through BIOS with every clock change.

Just give it a try! I used to run my 1100t at 3.6 at 1.36 and it held up fine for 2 years. I constantly change/under/over volt stuff all the time and haven't had any problems yet. It wont hurt the cpu runningat 1.4v/1.7ghz. technically speaking its safer at those voltages and those clocks than full clocks and same voltages. Definately try undervolting though.

May i ask why underclocking is on your wishlist?

Hi VincezioVonHook;

Thnx for ur quick reply.

I am underclocking just to make some benchs on games and stuff. But my question was if at full load it needs 1.4v, when underclocking it should take less voltage, would that high voltage hurt the cpu since it is now @ 1.7Ghz.?

Regards.

Nah it won't hurt the cpu in any way. Just raise the temps running at those clock's. If you turn on c6 state and power saving features you can watch the cpu throttle when it isn't under load and jusge voltages from there. I noticed that at 1.6ghz my fx pulls 0.9v and runs stable. Voltage ramps up to around 1.08 at 2.3 and so on. Definately a good idea to undervolt though, no damage would be done. Especially if its only going to be run underclocked for benchies.

I ran one of my cpu's with a variable clock and a set voltage of 1.25 for years and never had a problem.

Hi;

But my problem is that mobo sabertooth 990fx is feeding 1.4v. all the time(@ default settings) even if it is idling, and they say voltages hurt cpu more than heat.

Regards.
