I have an i3 Sandy Bridge 3.40 GHz Gateway with a gtx 650ti and 600 PSU. I plan on switching the CPU out with a Sandy Bridge i7 and the gtx 650ti with a gtx 760/770. Now the question. I plan on buying a rift when it is consumer ready. I won't be using it much for games. I'm actually more interested in using it for movie related software like VR Cinema and Riftmax. Would my current configuration be good enough to handle the rift for simply the movie side of it?

That configuration will run the majority of the demos currently available. It may even be overkill for just those applications. The issue is that no one really knows what kind of configuration you'll need once the consumer version is released.

As mcjr91 said no one knows what are going to be the fundamental requirements to have "presence" with what will be the consumer version of the Oculus Rift... 30fps? 60fps? As much as possible? God knows until they do not say anything...

I am being quite impatient myself as now too much time has passed and no release date announced whatsoever!

Got some more info....I watched all Steamworks videos from this week Steam Dev Day...Palmer said that 60fps is what is needed for presence but that to complete the experience with a even more immersion and presence 100 (or 110 fps can't remember) are desirable...

So it will work at 30/40 FPS but if you want a proper virtual immersion then 50/60 are a must and 100+ a bonus :)
