The socket uses the same retention bracket as AM2, AM3+ and FM1, which has been unchanged by AMD for years. The TX3 uses the same kind of mechanism as the std cooler and fits them all.

Yes but is not any better than the stock cooler and may have issues with your CPU. Pretty much a waste of money.

its basically the tx3 just with 1 less heat pipe and a smaller fan/heatsink size

Yep confused it with the 6700. So it will do but not much better than the stock cooler.

well that is all i need really... i also think that since my computer is OEM it isnt even an AMD cooler, it doesnt have an AMD sticker on it..... i think it is a cooler from HP them selves and also i think the thermal compound is not applied properly so i think i can see great improvments from this cooler

I am not sure since OEM's sometime use better coolers than AMD for additional thermal headroom and I think the CM 101 is not enough to see improvement.

hmm so you suggest i get the tx3?

would that be a great improvement over the 101

oh and hw monitor says that around idle i get 70C......
core temp is telling me 66C on idle, although it was telling me 35-45C yesterday on idle..

either my sensors are broken or something i dunno

Yes the TX3 is a much better cooler. Those are way to high for idle but could be the software reading wrong.

yeah, coretemp tells me the maxtemp for my apu is 70C but ive hit way over that on load sometimes on idl. when im on load hwmonitor tells me sometimes in excess of 95c!

No you will need a cooler that does not use the original AMD clamp.

so i just mount this onto the motherboard and i will be able to use the tx3? why did hp not use a retention bracket?

it kinda looks like an intel cooling clamp, could it be? because its oem HP uses their own cooling solution.

im really confused and i want a new cpu cooler :(

It actually looks like the Intel mounting and buying a frame will not work but the Intel mounting may.

so you think that i can get the tx3 and mount it using the intel mounts?
