Does anyone know if there any differences between these two cards aside from dimensions?

Card 1

and

Card 2

I've looked at the tech specs and found little difference but wanted to be sure before I buy the smaller dimension version.

Also, I'm looking for advice on whether I should buy a nVidia or a Radeon;
I'm going to use the card for video rendering in Sony Vegas (though I have access to Adobe software too) and recording Let's Plays. I know I could spend more but I'm not a hardcore gamer and will be looking achieve good FPS with 720p resolution.

Thank you in advance.

The two cards are just different versions with the same chip. The models can be found on Asus site also.

Only dimensions are different.

They seem to be the same card. The difference in dimensions might be just due to different measuring methods.

In terms of Nvidia vs AMD, just look at benchmarks and see which card offers you the best value for money. Nvidia has shadowplay though, which might come in handy for let's plays. Shadowplay lets you save the last 10 minutes of gameplay as a compressed video with the push of a button. I'm not 100% sure the 660 has that future, so I'd check to make sure.

Thanks. I will look into the Shadowplay option, I was planning on using Fraps but this looks interesting.

Yes, I think that is definitely an intriguing part of going for AMD, but I think it's vice-versa when it comes nVidia with Adobe Premiere? Which I am tempted to use instead.

I think there is Cuda Vs. OpenCL acceleration in Adobe Premiere, and anyway CUDA utilization is much better in high end GTX cards, I actually once saw a chart Where GTX 580, a two generation old card was only second to 780ti in desktop performance.

I'm seriously thinking about going for this now; http://www.box.co.uk/MSI_AMD_7870_Gaming_Video_Graphics_Car_1318472.html?gclid=CKiLktWdzLwCFUkJwwodDXAAXA#DetailTop

An extra £6, but seems to be more compatible with Vegas and generally better at gaming.

What I'm struggling to find is specific benchmarks on power consumption and noise compared to the Asus GTX 660 posted above.

I really liked the idea of the Asus being so quiet and efficient and if the MSI isn't as good, or nearly as good, then I will go with the GTX.

Anyone have advice for me on the MSI in the link?

Wow, the 7870 smashes 660 on rendering in Vegas. Thanks! I will have to decide between the XFX and MSI now. I found this article which is pretty useful; http://uk.hardware.info/comparisontable/products/156027-166260-166982-148837

Noise level on the XFX is better, but power consumption is better on MSI. Why do you see MSI as better in general, may I ask?

Ok, thank you for all of your advice! I have to pick a solution so I will pick the answer which most accurately answered my initial question. I genuinely appreciate all the advice given.
