Hi everyone,

I just composed a new PC system for my office containing the following:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
CPU: Intel Core i5-3350P
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9

Although CPU and Motherboard specifications state that support 1600MHz RAM, when I go to BIOS menu the RAM speed is at 1333MHz.

Any ideas what should I do so I can take advantage of the full 1600MHz RAM speed?

Thank you in advance.

Same thing for my 1600Mhz kit from Corsair. I had to go into the BIOS and update the frequency to 1600 there.

Thank you, guys, for the replies.

OK, the first thing I tried to do was what bfitzpatric and toddybody recommended:
I went to Advanced Memory Settings ->Memory Frequency (MHz).
The default value is 1333MHz.
When I changed it to 1600MHz a warning message popped up saying that over-clocking may lead to system dysfunction etc.

That really scared me (lol) since the system is guested in a very average CoolerMaster case with only two fans and, as far I know, over-clocking demands higher cooling.

So, I loaded again the so-called "optimized settings" and the frequency went back to 1333MHz.
Do you think I should change it again and leave it at 1600MHz with no worries about the system's future functionality and performance?
And if yes, what value should I use for voltage?

@rolli59 I am running DBAN now to format my hard disk. In some hours (it says 3 but it always takes more) I will try also your tip and let you know the results.

But in general, I'm a little bit confused: why do we have to make BIOS changes since everything it is supposed to run at 1600MHz?
Shouldn't this functionality be just "out of the box" since every single part of the system can be sync at 1600MHz?

You should have no problems running it at 1600mhz with your current setup...your motherboard should have NO ISSUE supporting that clock. Ive never seen those warning messages before, though I usually get ASUS boards. Set it to 1600, youll be fine sir!

The 1600MHz rating on the ram is a XMP profile or Intel Xtreme memory profile and is activated in BIOS/UEFI.It is supported by IVY Bridge and will not be called OC like when you put the speed in manually!

I did what you recommended, rolli59.
Found the XMP and as you had already thought, it was disabled.
I loaded "Profile 1", as it was labeled, and the memory's clock changed to 1600MHz with no warnings!

Thank you so much for your time and your solution! Be well, my friend!
