im looking to upgrade my EVGA GTX 660 2GB..to something more future proof, what do you guys suggest that's gonna keep playing games now untill 3 or 4 years on..also i dont really understand the term "future proof" isnt that kind of an oxymoron? since computer hardware advances almost every month? idk im just confused about that term.

With that option in mind and $500, GTX 780Ti seems as future proof as one can get till today. Provided, you already have EVGA option in hand, an upgrade seems like a good deal to me - wait - incredible deal, in fact. Doesn't get better than this.
No such thing as future proof when it comes to technology.

Count on getting two to three years of good performance out of your GPU(s) and you won't be disappointed.

If you're thinking in terms of a couple more good years, you could add a 660 to your system if you have an SLI ready motherboard. It would be a pretty cost-effective way to improve your performance.

But we also have to consider your CPU/Motherboard, too. What CPU and motherboard are you using?

Generally the most future proof components you can get are simply the best ones, so either get a 780 Ti now or wait a month or so for the 790, unless you're on a budget those are the best cards money can or will be able to buy

I would sell your 660 on ebay and get an EVGA GTX 780 (they are around $500 right now) and within 90 days of purchase look at their "step-up" program to upgrade (for the difference in price you paid to the upgrade price) to a 880 (if its out) or a 780ti if their price drops.

a 780 would be very good for 1080. and like I said if prices drop you can step-up within 90 days. So if you buy a 780 now for $500 and the 780ti is $700...but in early May (because of AMD supply coming up on the 290, or the release of the 880) prices come down and you can get a 780ti for $550...then you can trade in your 780 to EVGA and for $50 difference get a 780ti.

Isn't there an option for EVGA card buyers to exchange thier cards for higher model and get amazing price cut offer. I got such exchange on my Zotac GTX 650Ti to MSI GTX 660 and saved a LOT of money.
