quadro gpus enabled with any nvidia card by modifying a txt file ?

I was interested to read Blazer1985 said Premiere has it's mercury gpu accelerated engine which only relies on quadro gpus (you can enable any nvidia card by modifying a txt file though)

can anyone shed more light on this

My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640

Mercury playback engine is not only for quadros. Open that txt file and you'll see some gtx in there already. In CC they added an option to enable it without adding it to the list but you get a message saying it's not on the list. In any prior version you will have to add it to have it work. They also added opencl support in cc so it will work on any amd card as well.
