My boyfriend and I are going to move in together soon. He has a desktop computer and I have a laptop. Obviously, they are completely different computers(IP address, security numbers and everything). How can I share internet connection with one modem and one router? I would be appreciated if you could explain step by step. Thank you so much!!

The router will have multiple RJ-45 ports on the back. Generally 5. WAN port to connect to the modem, 4 LAN ports for devices.
Plug the PCs into different LAN ports.

The modem talks to the ISP and the router. The router gives different internal IP addresses to the devices. Generally, 192.168.1.xxx.
