Hi,

I have 3 monitors hooked up to my HD 6870:
DVI-DVI: Monitor #1 24"
DVI-DVI: Monitor #2 24"
HDMI - HDMI: TV

Basically I am unable to use all 3 at the same time.
After checking on the forums this has something to do with the ATI cards disabling a port if 3 are connected.

I only really need to use two monitors - both my 24" monitors.
The problem is that one of my 24" monitors is always disabled. I can't enable it at at all.

I want to have the TV disabled via the AMD CCC Disable Display options.
If I do this, I still can't enable the the other 24" monitor.

It simplier terms:
I want the 2x DVI ports to be the primary monitors active, and if one has to be disabled at all times I want it to be the TV (until I can manually enable/disable them via CCC).

Is this possible?

I think the problem is the dual link DVI-I. The card provides only 2 DVI links. The other DVI-D and the HDMI each use a single link. It should be possible to use a HDMI to DVI adapter and connect only to the single link DVI and the HDMI.

Sorry guys I am totally clueless with the terminology here.

I am not sure what an active DP port means but basically I just need to replace my TV's HDMI to HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI cable?

As far as I can tell, my TV only has 2x HDMI ports and a VGA port.
So I would need an HDMI to VGA?

I won't be able to use DVI to HDMI for the TV as both DVI ports on the card are in use for the 24" monitors.

You should use a DVI to VGA adapter. It will only fit on one of the DVI ports. It is best that you connect one of the monitors to the DVI to VGA adapter and still use the HDMI for the TV as the HDMI cable can carry sound.
You should remember that two DVI or HDMI cables can't be connected to the two DVI ports.

Ok so I just realized that my Dell monitor has a DisplayPort port on it.

Does this mean I can just use a MiniDP to DisplayPort cable for my Dell>PC, and contniue to use a DL DVI for Monitor #1 > pc and HDMI>HDMI for the TV and all 3 should work?
