Speaker/Mic sockets not working

Hello all

Updated the Aspire 6935G from Vista to Win 7 pro a couple of years ago and did not find this problem until today. The input (mic) and output (speaker) sockets on the side of the touchpad are not working - no sound out and no input on mic. I have got the drivers for the touchpad and that seems to be working, but I need to use the sockets for some of my amateur radio software. Any ideas on what I need to do?

try to reinstall the audio driver .

Tried that and still the same. I think I need to look into this a little more and see why I have no output. At least the volume control is working on the touch pad!

you will have to use the vista one http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/drivers also check under the peripheral for ? mark on audio try the new material detection . see if they are not mute .

Thanks Scout_03. Done and still the same. I think this could turn out to be a PICNIC (Problem In Chair Not In Computer) error. Had a chat with a friend who uses a similar interface and he asked if I was looking for the USB Audio CODEC, so that is my task today.
