so I am running an AMD 4100 FX quadcore 3600 (2 physical cores, 2 virtual), 8 gigs of DDR3 1333 mhz and a radeon 6670 HD 1 gig and 64x windows 7. This build is creating a lot of problems running games that say i'm way over the minimum system stats... I was wondering if there is asome kind of bottleneck with these components and also if it would be better to replace the GPU, CPU or just time to rebuild any info is more than appreciatory... thanks in advance

No, he's not playing Ultra. He's playing on MINIMUM because he can't handle anything better. That's why I'm showing him how the game scales up with better graphics cards.

A $250 GTX760 would probably play the same game at 55FPS that he plays at 20FPS, or allow better quality settings for ones he has acceptable frame rates already for.
Yes, there is a bottleneck.

There is ALWAYS a bottleneck in any system. In your case, the weakest link is the Graphics Card.

If a particular part is a bottleneck, then it means replacing it with a better part improves performance.

*For gaming, the HD6670 is fairly weak. Even a $100 HD7770 would be a lot better, and it just goes up from there. At some point the CPU would end up being the bottleneck (can't send data to the faster graphics cards fast enough) but it also varies per game.

**If you want a better gaming experience buy somewhere between and HD7770 1GB and GTX770 2GB card. (between $100 and $320).

the witcher 2 minimum settings, saints row 3-4 min... some games i can run at max settings like borderlands 2 with fxaa and AA disabled. However some games that i should be able to at least run lag to a point where im one place on the screen and across the screen on another like witcher 2 being the worst

So you are having mult-second frames?

That kind of lag is not consistent with the symptoms of an underpowered GPU
The only time I get lag like that is if I have disk swapping occurring but that shouldn't be with 8GB

Hmm... I never liked at it that way.

yes, it doesnt make much sense but don't wanna give up and rebuild. Virtual cores on the CPU is what i've been thinking, a basic athalon X2 quad running at 2.8 is supposed to run min could this be the problem?
