I'll try to make this brief. Here's my setup. This is a custom build.
CPU: i5 2500K (@ 4.3Ghz)
Mobo: Asus P8P67 LE
GPU: GTX 560 Ti (OC'd)
RAM: 8GB G Skill Rip Jaws
HDD: 750GB WD Caviar Black
PSU: Rosewill 550W
OS: Windows 8.1
- System will not shut down
- Fans, lights remain on after shutting down Windows from menu
- Once shut down is initiated I hear HDD shut off, fans speed up (audibly) and remain on
- When Windows shuts down the monitor changes to the no signal mode
- Started happening randomly (seemed to coincide with a Windows 8.1 update)
- Checked all connections
- Tried system restore, disabling some power option in W8.1 that was giving some people issues, to no avail
- Still happens on 100% fresh install
- Must shut off PC at PSU switch on tower
- When I power on the PC, I flip the PSU switch (it comes on immediately), and I have to press and hold the power button on my tower for like a second or two to get the computer to POST to BIOS screen and boot Windows.
Begging for any ideas at this point. The computer works fine otherwise, but it's seriously becoming an inconvenience and I can't believe that it's good to continue shutting down that way.
Prior to this the system has been running for approximately 2 years.
