This has been asked probably a million times, but thought since I'm about to assemble my first build I'd ask again. Here's my parts list, which will mainly be for gaming and general around the house use (still deciding on cpu cooling):

If I already had Win 7 on a machine I probably wouldn't bother, but since this is new build with a new Windows intall, is now the time to go with 8.1 or is Win 7 still the gold standard for gaming?
