First off my specs:
AMD FX-6200 CPU
MSI 970A-G43 MOBO
Corsair XMS 8GB DDR3-1600 MEM
Seagate Barracuda 1TB STO
Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze PSU
XFX R7-260X-CNF4 GPU
Windows 7 Ultimate
And now my problems:
I built this PC towards the middle of January, I had a second hand MSI Radeon 7770 thrown in it as a temporary GPU while I waited for my R7-260X to arrive. The previous owner said it would blue screen while playing games and blamed the video card and sure enough some of those issues did arise but I did nothing to solve the issue since I knew I was getting the newer one soon. When the R7-260X did arrive I cleared all my old drivers on the recommendation of several users of another forum. Everything seemed fine for a couple days but then I started getting random hangs with the computer. I would be out of the room and my monitor would be black while the computer would be running. I thought nothing of it really since the monitor was kind of old but unplugging it, etc never helped and I had to resort to powering down the computer with the front button.
This continued for several days but only once a day while I was thinking it was the monitors fault, however during one internet browsing and music listening session I finally experienced it first hand. The sound buzzed for several seconds and the screen went black, going into the state where my only recourse is to press the power button on the front. I did some research into the situation and the only things I could come up with were properly removing the GPU drivers with Driver Sweeper and then reinstalling the GPU drivers without using Catalyst Control Center. I did this and it seemed to alleviate the issue for several days.
The problem came back again. I tried using an HDMI monitor instead of the previous DVI I was using and that did nothing to help so I tried updating the motherboard drivers thinking they were likely out of date since I only installed via the disc that came with it. Again the issue seemed to be solved for several days but came back again. My brother has been trying to help me diagnose the issue and we started to suspect the motherboard may be the cause.
I decided to move the GPU to the second PCI slot yesterday to see if anything changes and while today I have yet to have one of the hard hangs, I did have a "display driver has crashed and successfully recovered" error message pop up while I was attempting to watch a Twitch stream.
I'm completely at a loss here at what to do. I don't know if it is the GPU, the MOBO, the PSU, drivers or what. I've attempted to test things like the RAM using utilities and everything always seems to come back fine. I monitor my temperatures and they all seem just fine and in normal operating ranges. I ran Furmark for 45 minutes with no crashes, no temp spikes. I've tried both the latest regular AMD driver and the Beta driver, both to no avail. Help me Tom!
