Hi all,
I do have problem with network/computer/router settings at my work place. To be honest don't even know where should I start. There is a software which can be run only under win XP and as we all know it won't be supported soon. For now we are running this software under virtual XP but usage is limited (soft can be run on one machine at once). Data base for this soft is on server, all connected in LAN with internet access. And there is my question, how to set up windows XP/router or whatever on this network so I can have access to server and at this same time machine with win xp won't be a weak link in network (security wise)

Thank you for all suggestion and solution right now
I will appreciate any replies

Regards M

it is TM Master made by Tero Marine - Spare parts and maintenance system - we will not get anything else we need to deal with what we have.

Cheers M

ah! proprietary software... that sucks... i was hoping it was none specific like excel or some other database app that allowed you to create your own interfaces.
i guess theres no way to migrate your databases to another piece of software?.
and you have probably already tried to run the software in xp compatibility mode?.

so your left with changing your network so all your xp machines sit behind 1 win7 machine which acts like a firewall to them all. the limits of this is that the win 7 machine will have to handle all the network traffic to the xp machines its hooked up to.
again this sucks but is an option...

i really dont envy you this 1 mate as its gonna cost you money either way. i dont suppose tero marine has any legal requirement to keep its software updated and compatible. coz the current software is no longer fit for its purpose if it cant be used on a new o.s.
