do the intel core i3 2120 and the intel core i7 4770k have the same compatibility?

Im super new to building gaming pc's and i was wondering if my computer has an intel core i3 2120 would i be able to replace it with an intel core i7 4770k without any modifications? Also im using a nvidia gtx 660, I dont know if that changes anything.

u can buy that but check whether ur motherboard supports cpu overclocking or not. u need...

no u cannot
i3 2120 is 2nd generation and needs lga 1155 socket motherboard
i7 4770 is 4th generation and needs lga 1150 socket motherboard
u need to replace your motherboard if u want to upgrade, otherwise buy i7 3770 just like i did last month to upgarde my cpu from i3 2120 to i7 3770.

u can buy that but check whether ur motherboard supports cpu overclocking or not. u need Z77 motherboard for overclocking CPU.
If not just buy i7 3770, thats also good.
