Will a Dual Core work well with Finale (2012 or 2014 Version)?

I keep reading that quad cores are a necessity for people that will be multitasking, but I will just be using one program at a time. I want to know if the Pentium G3420 Dual Core will be able to handle Finale or should I get an eight core. CPUboss.com says that the G3420 out-performs the AMD FX-8320 8-core on Single-Core Performance. Is it an absolute necessity to get eight cores (I have no clue if Finale even uses eight cores) and spend $200 more on a CPU or should I get a $70 Dual Core? Don't send me a link to Finale's System Requirements page because that doesn't help anything.

8 cores will only really help with running many tasks at once, so if you KNOW you are only going to run one or 2 processes at a time, single core performance will make the most difference. But 2 cores is not great anymore for anything past web browsing and word processing and iTunes all at the same time...if you can a core i5 at 3.1 Ghz or higher would be best
