7750 vs 625

So my friend got a prebuilt PC, which I told him not to etc etc.

He used it for gaming, and the specs are an i7-4770(not k) and a GTX 625, kinda unbalanced much?

So he was considering buying my old 7750 2GB ddr3 model to replace his card. I will give it to him for a good price, he just wants to know if its an upgrade.

I usually know about this, but the 625 is hard to pin down.

Judging by the model, it'd be weaker than a GT 630 so the 7750 should be twice as powerful, even if it's the DDR3 version of the 7750 :lol:

Really? I knew it probably was better (Since it simply has more memory too) but that is alot more that I expected. The only 625 I have seen was a 625m, I have seen the specs for the desktop card, but never SEEN one. haha

OEM cards are kinda weird, but I really wouldn't expect an OEM modelled GT 625 to be more powerful than a GT 630 lols

Yeah its not balanced, building your own will give you much flexibility. It should be $100 towards CPU and $300 for the GPU.

Well woops, just had a look around and the GDDR3 version of the 7750 is a fair bit weaker than I thought

Yeah I know its really bad to buy a PC pre built, but he lacked the knowledge and his parents lacked the confidence in him to learn.

I know the DDR3 model is weaker, but it still should be better than the 625 (which could be a 620, because I dont trust his ability to figure out which one it is)

It's still a pretty big improvement, provided that he doesn't mind playing the latest games on low :lol:

He plays that anyway haha, Its not a bad card, I could run games like SC2 on high/ultra, Planetside 2 at medium, and left for dead etc on medium with 30 fps when I had it. He plays on low with less FPS than that

Alright cool, Ill have to run it by him.
Maybe now he wont complain about lagging out on a prebuilt PC.
