Hello Forum:
I'm beginning the journey of overclocking my PC and I've read a lot on this forum and the web in general, but there is so much information that contradicts itself and I'm looking for a straight answer or help....

My computer works just fine and I don't seem to have any issues (Don't play a lot of PC games) but I want to learn to overclock.......Especially when I start to upgrade this rig

Comp Specs:
AMD Phemon II X4 955
Asrock Extreme3 870
GTX 460 768mb
Thermaltake Chaser A31
Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 Modular
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8 GB DDR3 1333
OCZ 60 GB SSD
Western Digital Caviar Black 640 GB SATA 6.0gb/s

In the Bios settings there are the "Ez-Overclock" Settings.....Currently I'm at 3.52ghz (Stock is 3.2ghz) and the voltage is 1.3V..........I'm using the Stress Test as we speak (Prime 95) and under the full load my temp (Speed Fan) says 57-60c. I also have the Intel Burn Test but haven't used it yet.

I've read for every increase of the CPU MHz I should adjust the voltage a few clicks....Run the stress test again to see if it's stable..........With Prime 95 should I be doing anything else????

Sorry for the long post =)

I just ran Intel Burn Test on Maximum for 5 Tests.....It passed. The highest the Cpu got was 62c. Does this mean my PC is stable enough now? I would like to keep going up to see......

What else should I be doing?

If you are reaching 62c it means you have reached your thermal limit, you need a better cooler if you want to overclock more now.

I currently have a Zalman PC Cooler on there (Fan+Heatsink).......

I've never done any other type of cooling before.....
Honestly, like I said I'm at a stable 3.52ghz will I see any difference if I go any higher........I surf the web and watch movies. I have played world of tanks, Guild Wars 2 with no problems as well........

When I test my system for newer games, the Cpu is fine but my graphics card is what is lacking......

Sorry back to overclocking :D  What else should I do?

As I said, there really isn't anything you can do regarding about your overclock, the only way to overclock more is by getting a better cpu cooler but as of right now it wouldn't benefit you much due to your lackluster gpu.

Thats what I thought.....I can go as high as a Gtx 650 Ti Boost without a bottleneck (according to the forum here).

I appreciate your input.

Thanks!
