I have always had this problem, I would be playing a game and it would just crash like that, sometimes it doesn't bother to show a BSOD but sometimes it is nice and shows a blue screen. Nevertheless this is a very annoying problem and I have narrowed it down to either my GPU, Drivers, Conflicts in software/drivers or my PSU. I can send a Dump file but it really doesn't have much information except for the regular ntoskrnl.exe failure... Can someone please help me? I really want to game in peace

Oh yeah and I put it under Graphics and displays because I highly suspect my GPU, the driver keeps crashing on me, but it usually doesn't result in a BSOD... Don't get me wrong however, bluescreens happen more often than not

I was having bsods periodically with a GTX580, used bluewscreenviewer to read the dump file and it described ntoskrnl.exe as having problems and causing system instability.

bluescreenviewer also had a 'google solution' option so searched possible causes and one mentioned the operating system (system update) may have caused power glitch where the gpu wouldn't receive enough power at times and would crash. Not 100% sure that was the problem so i installed msi afterburner and force constant power and used kernel mode to see if it would help. Was fine for a while then the bsods came back.

Had the gpu for about 2 years ran great before getting these bsods, the problem got worse overtime after using msi afterburner, coincidence or not. Had hdmi display blanking in and out sometimes as well, then finally had an opengl driver crash in a halflife game(never had that before) and couldnt not get it started, so was a good time to try another gpu.

Changed the gpu over to an older amd 5870 and bingo no opengl crash no bsods.

Bought and had GTX770 since last year and everything has been fine. So it was the 580 eventually crapping out.

For you though, it could be similar, would help your cause to try another spare/friends gpu.

Try updating your motherboard bios also.

If those two suggestions fail, would look at the psu. But have a feeling its the gpu itself.

Oh boy, I do hope I don't have to buy another GPU, I wonder if Warranty covers this stuff?
I have a GTX660ti by the way

usually a year, would have to check terms and conditions from the place you bought it. But if you have a friend who can come over and try his gpu, that would be a great help.

Check for bios updates for now and see if its simple as that.
