Hi there

When I booted up my pc recently a message appeared that said a drive needed to be tested for consistency, which I let it do. Since then that drive has appeared as unformatted, and therefore inaccessible. When I went to Disk Management a popup appeared asking if I wanted to recover the drive using MBR or GPT, I selected GPT. This may have been a mistake.

As of right now the drive is still unformatted. Previously I had it in two partitions but it's in one homogeneous chunk.

Can I do anything to recover my data on the drive?

Try Partition Find & Mount:
http://findandmount.com/

Better still, try to clone your drive, sector by sector, using a utility (eg ddrescue freeware) that understands how to work around bad media. Then work on the clone. Your drive's Current Pending Sector Count, Uncorrectable Sector Count, and Write Error Rate attributes have problems, especially the latter.

findandmount.com didn't find the lost partitions.
I'm going to try some other programs that recover lost paritions.

@unknownofprob
I'm trying to recover my data, not erase it by formatting.
