Hi,
Lets start from the basic:
Asrock H67M- GE/TM Motherboard
1Life 600W PSU
Asus R7 260x 2g

Yesterday i got 2 asus R7 260x (one for me, another to a friend), and when i tried to set it up i got absolutely nothing on screen. the computer boots fine and if i chance the cable to the motherboard slots then everything is fine and i get image.

At first i thought it was drivers, so, i took the old card out and cleared the driver, ccleaner all around, restart and try to set the new one up, but the PC still didn't even recognize it.
Searching around i got a, "maybe the motherboard prob?", so i proceeded to update the bios. done, from 1.40 tp 2.10. Yet, still nothing.

I tried with both cards to rule out a damaged piece, yet both do the same, fans on, but the computer doesn't recognize them at all, inserting the asus driver (or downloading the newest from the amd site, either) i get the "insert a vga card" error.

I know that if the PSU doesn't provide enough power it can lead to this, but im using a 600W PSU when the card only recommends a 450W (although its a cheap psu and possible isnt giving 100% of what it says, but still, i dont believe its giving less than 450w, being 600w. Oo).

Am i missing out something? the pc aint really new, the motherboard much less (yet it works perfectly with the old sapphire HD 6570), can it be the problem? Should i go for a higher/better brand PSU?

Thanks for the time guys, any help is appreciated^^.

PSU quality is more important than the rated power, generic psu are rated at much higher power than that they can actually deliver. I have never heard of that psu brand before so it is probably generic. Get a good brand PSU: Antec, Crosair, XFX or EVGA.

Wow. Never thought that it could be that less power on generic psu's than the one rated. i figured it would be 50w-100w less tops.
A new PSU it shall be then. ordering it now, so, once i get the results ill be back with news :p
Ty for the time AnEwG^^

Well, after looking around for a while im split over a Corsair VS 550W or the VS 650W version. (the recommended for R7260x is 450w, being corsair i think that the 550w version should hold solid no?)
This only because the budget is extremely limited, and either of those will be a hole in my wallet at the moment, more so if i get the 650w xD
My Generic is pretty good actually .. for its price. ran my Sapphire hd6570 for 3 years with no problems at all.
The problem now its running the more demanding R7 260x xD (at least i really hope that 's the problem ..)
I' have until tomorrow to check it out anyway, being weekend, ordering now or tomorrow will do the same, as i will get it only monday/tuesday xD

I got 150e for the card (got it for 135), not having a new psu in account at all.
So even the 550w v. is 30e above what i had prepared to spend. the 650w is then 40-45e more than the inicial amount i had ready. Mind that -i will- get the 650w version if the 550w isnt enough or if its barely so.

If you can afford it try to get a 500/450w +80 certified bronze power supply, preferably EVGA or XFX. Certified power supplies can actually deliver their rated wattage, The VS series is not certified. Wattage is not the only thing that matters as well, amperage on the +12 v rail is very important. For the r7 260x you need minimum wattage of 450w and 19 A @ +12v rail.

Yes it should be fine. And don't worry, such a power supply is a great investment, it is better than getting a cheap power supply now and ending up with a toasted gpu or motherboard. You may even end up putting this same power supply in a new rig when you feel like upgrading in the future.
What is your CPU btw?
