Radeon HD7770 strange screen pattern (pic enclosed) after update - which setting?

I did a driver update on Windows 8.1 and now my screen is full of lines?

I can most see to maneuver but reading small text in the Catalysit software is difficult. Is this a setting? Should I rollback the driver in device manager? I am hesitant to do that just yet.

I would suggest you to rollback the driver, as you hesitant to do that, use the default settings in catalyst control center, and can you also try booting into safemode ?

Thanks - I tried this and my screen looks normal, but all the software is having a problem - i.e. 11 keeps crashing and several programs will not start correctly

so this is a driver problem and not a settings problem?

I guess it is, try rolling back the driver, and drop a note to people at AMD, there is thread for driver problems...

So I tried another monitor that was close by and - miraculously everything worked. This is an HDMI connection as was the other monitor I tried with the same cable. I see nothing strange in device manager.

It must be a monitor setting somewhere, but where.... the refresh is correct.

any ideas appreciated.

the strange thing is the old driver worked with monitor - nothing changed and the new one does not.

do both monitors run at the same resolution ?

Hi Hari,

No one is 1920 x 1080 and the Gateway is 1920 x 1200. I may try to force the 1920 x 1080 that worked on the TV and see what happens.

Ok - the plot thickens...

1. The Gateway 1920x1200 native works with no lines at 1920 x 1080.... so good suggestion. It looks bad and is scaled wrong, but works, so I got that going for me.

2. DVI works no problem at 1920 x 1200. I had the cable there so I thought I would give it a shot.

I am not sure what this means....

my guess would be that the driver is having trouble rendering that particular resolution+ refresh rate I guess, I would suggest that you rollback the drivers and wait for the next iteration of it to come out and hopefully they've fixed this issue by then, in the mean time check this link to see if there are any work around. BTW are you using a XFX make ?
