GPU PCI-E slot lever broken on my ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, replace the motherboard or not?

Hey everyone,

I am currently in the process of finalizing my hardware upgrading list and am thinking about whether I have to replace my still working motherboard or not.

About a year ago my PCI-E lever (the plastic thing which locks the graphic card inside the PCI-E slot) snapped off and ever since then I am laying my current case on the side.

Picture for reference:

So nowadays I am considering to buy one of the beautiful Enthoo Primo chassis, which I definitely do not want to lay on the side so that I am unsure about the security of my soon to be 2x GTX 770 SLI setup.
Will the Enthoo Prime allow me to secure the graphic cards without having to lay it on the side? As of today I have never owned a premium chassis, so that I am not sure about the mechanism involved.

If it is possible to secure the graphics card despite not having a functional lever, is there anything I should watch out for?

I also read a random comment about being able to replace these PCI-E levers, any information on how to as the comments did not elaborate on that.

Should you suggest me to replace my current motherboard, then should I simply opt in for another ASRock z77 Extreme 4 or get another one? I plan on replacing the current CPU, Ram and Motherboard for a Haswell-E setup later down the year together with a new kit of DDR4 Ram should the motherboards support those, which seems to be in the planning for the new Haswell-E motherboards.

For those who wonder about my current setup and the one I plan on upgrading to, here you go:

Current Setup

CPU: i7-3770k

Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Cooler

MB: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 (9-9-9-24) 2x4GB

GPU: Gainward GTX 570 Phantom

HDD: a Random WD Caviar Green 1TB faulty drive

Case: a Random CM Chassis

Planned Setup

CPU: Keep the i7-3770k (replace with a Haswell-E 8 Core later this year)

Cooler: Corsair H110 (take over to cool the new Haswell-E 8 Core later this year)

MB: Keep or replace my current ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 with another one of the same kind, open for suggestions should there be any. Will be replaced later down this year for a Haswell-E motherboard.

Ram: Double up my current Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 (9-9-9-24) 2x4GB for a total of 16GB until later this year. Planning on replacing these with some DDR4 once released.

GPU: Pick up two GTX 770s in SLI (which brand do you recommend? Currently leaning towards a pair of Asus 2x4GB)

HDD: WD4001FAEX Black 4TB (any other HDD I should consider?)

SSD 1: Crucial M500 120GB for Windows 8.1 and other C: essentials

SSD 2: Crucial M500 240GB for Games and other programs

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Primo

Open for suggestions and input, main usage of the Computer is Gaming, Video Editing and Streaming in HD 1080p / 120 FPS.

Most old motherboards didn't even have this lever and it was safe enough to install the card on the motherboard, as long as you have it screwed to the chassis, there is nothing to worry about and you can keep the chassis in its upright position. I don't think there is a need to RMA the motherboard and pay the reshipping costs since you are going to be buying a new motherboard anyway later this year.

Thanks for the comfort, makes me feel a lot better knowing that I don't need to dump another ~100€ for the same type of motherboard just for that lever.
Found my solution, thanks again and have a nice day!
