intel core 17-3770 - NonOC capable
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO - OC capable

Change one.

Do you really need a FireWire adapter?

First of all, thank you for your response.
Secondly, when you say OC are you talking about overclocking? if so, I do not plan to overclock, but should I change it anyway? Also, I need the fire wire to be able to connect my cannon xl1s video camera. fire wire is the best way that I have found to work with that camera.

If you don't plan on ever overclocking, you probably don't need a Z77 board. It will of course work, but you might be spending unneeded money on it.

Ok, thank you for your advice, I will look for a less expensive board. do you have any in mind? does everything else look compatible?

Yes. Everything else looks compatible.
Although I might go for a different SSD. Samsung 840 EVO instead of the Samsung.
And I personally wouldn't get RAM with those 'heat fins'. Not needed.

The SSD you suggested does look better. Also, if I chose something like an ASUS P8B75-M/CSM LGA 1155 Intel B75 mother board, will it be able to support all of the drivers I would like to install? just for clarification, is the i7 3770 a third or fourth gen?
thanks

After some more searching, I found the ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP LGA 1155 Intel H77 that seems to be good for a hundred dollars less than the asus. do you know the quality of the asrock verses the asus?
thanks again for all your help.

The ASRock will work just fine. If I'm not mistaken, the ASRock line is an offshoot of Asus.
