I am trying to upgrade my RAM from 8GB to 16GB. I desperately need to run with CS6 Master. I purchased compatible chips. When I installed them the Dell symbol came up and it said i was testing memory. After an hour, nothing. I restarted and hit F12, same thing. I restarted again and hit F2, same result. Do I need to replace the Motherboard? I was previously getting TPM errors on boot and would always hit F1 to continue.

The Dell m6500 has 4 Ram slots. the quad core processors can address all 4. 8GB x 4 = 32. The dual core chips can only address the two ram slots under the cover. for a grand total of 8 or 16. My Dell has the Intel® Core™ i5-540M Processor. Dell forums are saying DDR3 1600 MHz memory configurations are currently limited to 8 GB for the system and to try the 1333Mhz 16GB (2 x 8GB) and check how it works.

If it is Dual core then it supports only two slots as seen in the image so you need upgrade your processor first or let me know the cpu model number i will do that for you.

If you have a quad core processor and yet your laptop runs only 8GB then try going with 1333MHz rather than 1600MHz. According to the official spec max is 8GB with 1600MHz memory. Updating the BIOS might come in handy.
