my motherboard says under the graphics section it supports max shared memory of 1gb and in the Expansion slot section it has a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot?

My motherboard is- M5A78L-M USB3
My Processor is- AMD FX 4300
I have 8gb of RAM
I currently have a AMD Radeon HD 6450

The graphics card i have has been in since i got the pc, i want to be able to run battlefield 4/call of duty/ titalfall maybe when thats out and other games but if it can run those games im sure it would be able to run other games i would enjoy to play.

He has a fx 4300,do you really think there will be no bottleneck with a 4300 and a gtx 760/770? he needs a cpu upgrade/hefty overclock before he even thinks of upgrading to a high end graphic card update.

Right, too focused on the question. You should probably upgrade your cpu to at least a FX-6300, but a FX-8320 will be better.

So if i was to upgrade to the FX-8320 would my Power supply of 600watt be enough to then have the gtx 760/770 ?

My bad. But I still believe the FX-4300 will not bottleneck the 760 if overclocked properly.

Right now if you wanna upgrade to an 6300,8320 or 8350 also your need at least a 970 chipset motherboard to be more stable in overclocking http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database

Check here if your power supply is in the list then make a choice for youreself http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx

I've made a summary of parts I can think of that you will need for the upgrade.

I dont want to overclock anything though. Ideally I just want to upgrade the cpu and graphics card.

deefo,that is one of the worst way to upgrade,going blind.If there isn't enough amps in your power supply unit and if it fails on you it will for sure take atleast one of the components (aka graphic card,cpu,motherboard) when it runs out/blows.I would really advise not upgrading blind without knowing the model of your power supply unit.

Well I put the model number of my Power supply above but this is the model number again FSP600-80EPN
theres a sticker on the power supply saying
Hybrid Synergy 12V rail design;
Support Multi Rail Handling with max combined power 504 Watts in 12V Rail(s).

im pretty sure this one is the exact one i have;
