GTx 770 should be good. usually a 290 might be in reach with a $450 budget but bitcoin miners made the price go up. Personally, i would wait until the price drops on a R9 290 and get one of those as that rivals the GTX 780

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($349.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $349.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I almost bought the gtx 780 and thought about the 290x but the prices are crazy. I guess I can wait since what I have can play my games. I'm building a computer for my buddy and it going to have the 770 in it. I just wanted to see what people say or maybe someone knew if the prices were going to drop soon.
