How long do older GTX cards stay on market

I've decided to get a 770 in the next week or so, and had decided to get a 770 4gb in anticipation of getting another for SLI sometime later this year (this isn't normal for me, but I'm going to want it for star citizen, and this seemed better than planning on doing a single generation upgrade to the 800 series). However I noticed while poking around to see how much I could get for my old 570 dcII that older GTX cards don't really...well exist at the retail. Is this just because the 700 series was an upgrade of the 600 series, or is this a common phenomena of GTX? (would make sense since AMD as I understand dominates most everything outside of the top tier [where I know they win sometimes as well]).

If its the case that this is common in GTX, how long after the 800 series comes out until 700 prices start to go up, and will they come down at all? (if there is even going to be an 800 series before the fall, I hear everything from any day now to end of year to 2015).

I know this is just speculation, but that't what I'm asking for speculation from those with experience.

Thanks again for your time guys.

Solution
Lets put it this way if you can still find GTX660Ti, GTX670 or GTX680 they are often more expensive than the cards replacing them that is GTX760 and GTX770 which is a renamed and tweaked GTX680.

I know nothing about the various coin operations, but it seems to me that they only affect AMD card prices?

Also, as I said in OP I know its speculation, and that's what I'm asking for. If I thought 700 series prices were going to go up post 800 series then I would consider either just getting a 2gb card, or going ahead and biting the bullet and getting 2 4gb cards now. Wouldn't mind paying the same for the second one in 6 months, but paying more....likely won't even consider it if it came to that.
