Hello, I built a computer not to long ago last year. About a couple weeks ago I booted up my computer and saw purple vertical lines across the monitor while windows was updating. It went away after turning the monitor off and on.Further more, I get weird black lines and white lines blink across the screen when I'm playing league of legends. What component would cause this? Apparently my gpu warranty is void due to the serial number sticker falling off and no where to be found.I tried contacting the monitor company to get a replacement and it was TORTURE! These guys wanted 10,000 pictures of the issue, a video, a tooth from the tooth fairy, and a capsule of vampire blood to consider an rma. I sent pics and everything but they wanted more and more every email. After a month of this I called it quits on returning the monitor. I do have a spare monitor (17inch) and had no issues in league of legends, but I'm not sure that's just because the gpu doesn't have to output as much power with my current one. So I'm going to unfortunately have to buy and replace something, any idea on how to find this out? (Please done tell me the monitor and both gpu are faulty) sorry for the longish rant but I have been dealing with this for a little over a month or two. Any help is appreciated. :)

The thing is the only other system I have is a laptop. The vertical lines only happened once when win7 was updating and it happens randomly while playing league of legends.

I tried the monitor with the laptop and I am pretty sure I can confirm the monitor is faulty. I noticed a few dead pixels on the monitor but have no way of knowing if anything happens on league of legends as I can't play lol on my laptop.

Well it had a dead pixel whether connected to the laptop or the desktop. The gpu is an msi 7870 oced edition and the mobo is an asrock z77 extreme 4. I connecting the gpu to the monitor with an hdmi to dvi cable.

does the gpu have a vga output and the monitor a vga input and if you have that cable or a adaptor to vga or dvi you could try this .
